With the start of the 2012 season just weeks away, I’m going to give you a quick rundown of how the teams fared last season and how they look going into the 2012 Turf Wars Campaign!
The South Grand Slammers - The Slammers started off the season on shaky ground losing their first two bouts of the season but only by a combined total of fifty-five points. Debaucherous Prime has been with the league for over two years, has competed in every Travel Team bout, is the bout committee chair, is co-captain of the RiverFront Crimes local league team, and now is also a member of the GateKeepers’ Board of Directors. To say that Debaucherous Prime is dedicated to the GateKeepers is a bit of understatement. His skill on the track is readily apparent and his skill behind the scenes are excellent as well.

January Skater of the Month: INQUADABLE HULK!
A new year is upon us and that also means a new skater of the month to open the new year!
January’s skater of the month is Inquadable Hulk. Coming from a hockey background, Inquadable Hulk has brought even more muscle to an already hard-hitting GateKeepers’ squad. A regular on the Travel Team, Hulk’s quiet demeanor hides a raw fury that is unleashed every time he gets onto the track. Hulk helped lead the South Grand Slammers to the Turf Wars Championship in 2011 and …
It’s a new month and that means a new Skater of the Month! This month it is Zombie Jesus! A travel team member since the team’s inception, Zombie Jesus’ passive blocking skills and track awareness are a sight to see. Zombie Jesus won the “Dogtown Rockets’ Best Blocker” award for 2011 and is the epitome of the “blue collar” style of derby that the GateKeepers play. His play rarely stands out in the pack, but that is only because he is not a flashy player. He plays solid defense with a …
You can’t end a season without giving out some awards and that is exactly what the GateKeepers did on Sunday, November 13th at Tower Pub. After all the hard work, it was time to take a break and enjoy each others’ company and have a good time reflecting on what we had accomplished this season.
After watching Gotham take down Oly in the WFTDA Finals it was time to hand out the awards. It’s amazing how many more awards we had this season, but as the league grows, so do the …
