St. Louis' first and only flat track Men's derby league

South Grand Slammers look to incarcerate the RiverFront Crimes!

[15 Jun 2012 | No Comment | ]

The South Grand Slammers look to secure a trip to the Turf Wars Championship bout with a win, but the RiverFront Crimes stand in their way. In the Expo bout, the ladies battle it out as Team OMG! takes on Team WTF!.

Its going to be a wild one at the Midwest Sports Hockey Complex at Queeny Park this Saturday night!

Starting off the evening, the ladies will hit the track as Team OMG! takes on Team WTF! in a battle for acronym supremacy. Featuring some of the hottest stars in the St. Louis Roller Derby scene, these two teams will battle it out for 30 minutes.

Once the ladies are done, the 2012 Turf Wars season continues as the South Grand Slammers look to lock-up the RiverFront Crimes and a spot in the Turf Wars Championship. If the Slammers win, they will go to 2-1 and knock the Crimes out of contention. That said, the Crimes control their own destiny. If they can win Saturday and manage to defeat the Rockets in the final bout of the regular season they then have a chance to get into the Championship bout.

These two squads opened up the season in fine fashion with the Slammers holding off the Crimes and winning by a score of 159 - 123. A twenty-five point win is by no means convincing. A single power-jam could wipe that kind of a deficit away in a flash.

Keep your eye on Jagged Little Will for the Slammers as he is coming off of a MVP performance for the B-Keepers last weekend against Carolina. For the Crimes, watch for Juke Blocks Hero who has been an absolute beast in the pack blocking lately.

Tickets are available for $10 via Brown Paper Tickets (until 5pm Friday) and at the door on Saturday.

On June 30th, the GateKeepers Travel Team is back in action as they take on fifth-ranked Dallas Deception. The opening bout of this event features the B-Keepers taking on the Chicago Bruise Brothers. Tickets are on sale now at Brown Paper Tickets!

Don’t forget that the 2012 Men’s Roller Derby Association Championships will take place right here in St. Louis on October 20th and 21st. Gateway to the Best will feature the top eight teams in the MRDA battling it out at the Midwest Sports Hockey Complex with the last team standing being crowned 2012 MRDA Champions! Tickets can be purchased at a discounted rate right now at Brown Paper Tickets! But you better act fast as the price will increase as we get closer to the event!

See you at the bouts!
