Rockets remain undefeated with 147 - 87 win over the Slammers! Stars claim victory over Stripes in the Expo bout!
The Dogtown Red Rockets improved their record to 3 - 0 as they beat the South Grand Slammers on Saturday night by a score of 148 - 87. In the expo bout the Stars were victorious over the Stripes by a score of 138 - 48.
Smarty McFly and Downtown Dallis led the Stars to victory over the Stripes and earned MVP honors for the bout.
The first bout of the evening featured ladies from the local derby scene mixing it up in the Stars vs Stripes bout. The bout pitted Jammers vs. Blockers and there was no shortage of action. The Stars showed their versatility as they jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. A one-two punch of Smarty McFly jamming and Downtown Dallis blocking completely stymied the Stripes’ attack and allowed the Stars to cruise to a 138 - 48 victory. Downtown Dallis and Smarty McFly of the Stars squad shared the MVP honors for the bout.
The main event featured the unbeaten Dogtown Red Rockets facing off against the 2nd place South Grand Slammers in what may have been a preview of the Turf Wars Championship coming up in September. The last time these two teams faced off, the Slammers kept it close, but in the end fell 138 - 105. However, the Slammers had added a new Jammer to the roster in the form of Neil Death Experience and were ready to take another shot at the Rockets. This bout had a lot on the line as with a win, the Slammers could all but assure themselves a spot in the Championship bout and at the same time show the Rockets that they are not invincible.
The bout started fast and furious as the Rockets showed why they are undefeated by jumping out to an early 17 - 0 lead holding the Slammers scoreless through the first five jams of the bout. It seemed as though every time the Slammers managed to get lead jammer, the Rockets’ jammer was right on their tail and they simply were not able to take advantage of those opportunities. The Rockets continues to control the pace of the bout and went into half time with a 60 - 23 lead.
The Slammers would start the second half by chipping away at the Rockets lead a bit through the first five jams, but on the eight jam of the second half High Pains Drifter racked up 14 points. The Slammers would manage to hold the Rockets scoreless on numerous jams in the second half, but when the Rockets scored, they scored in bunches. On the eleventh jam Magnum P.I.M.P. put up fifteen points and on the thirteenth jam of the second half, Shanego Fett put up another fifteen points. The Rockets never let up on the Slammers and cruised to a 147 - 87 victory.
Shanego Fett attempts to dodge a falling Sweet Tooth as he makes his way through the pack.
Scoring:
Rockets: Magnum, P.I.M.P. - 59; Shanego Fett - 46; High Pains Drifter - 42 (MVP)
Slammers: Gnat King Kill - 43 (MVP); Bat Wing - 34; Neil Death Experience - 10
Final Thoughts: The Rockets continued their dominant play and showed no real signs of weakness. Stand out performances by Poppa Choppa and Aristhrottle really solidified an already terrifying blocking unit of the Rockets. Bat Wing showed no ill-effects coming off the hernia surgery and you have to wonder how much NoFx-Shun being out hurt the Slammers blocking schemes.
The Slammers loss opens the door for the RiverFront Crimes. If the Crimes can manage to end the Rockets’ winning streak next month then the Crimes will move into second place and take a spot in the Turf Wars Championship in September. If the Rockets remain undefeated the Slammers will hold onto that second place slot in the standings and get a third shot at taking down the Rockets. Every game counts and next month will be no different.
Next up the B-Keepers will be headed to Kansas City on August 14th to take on the Cowtown Butchers as a new I-70 rivalry is born. Then on August 20th the Turf Wars regular season comes to a close at the Midwest Sports Hockey Complex in Queeny park as the Dowgtown Rockets take on the RiverFront Crimes and the Arch Rival Roller Girls All Stars will face off against Sioux Falls. Keep watching the site as tickets will soon be available for purchase!
See you at the bouts!

My total score is pretty disappointing, especially considering that I had lead jammer 8 out of 9 jams in the first half. My shoulders hurt the next day from calling it off so many times. Hard to score points with an opposing jammer on your heels though.
That was what really set the tone in my opinion Bats. Every time you guys managed to get lead jammer, the Rockets’ jammer was usually right on your tail coming out of the pack.
