On March 14th-16th, Team USA traveled to Birmingham UK to take part in the first Men’s Roller Derby World Cup. It was an opportunity for men’s roller derby to show the world how quickly it has developed and the teams in attendance did not disappoint!

Fifteen countries were represented in the tournament and all of them displayed the comradery and sportsmanship that has been the hallmark of both men and women’s roller derby. Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Canada, England, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Netherlands, Scotland, Sweden, United States and Wales all had teams at the event.

To say Team USA came into the tournament as heavy favorites would be an understatement. The roster was stacked with players from MRDA teams from all over the country. The St. Louis GateKeepers had five players named to the Team USA roster: Scott Meyer, Tony Correnti, Corey Porter, Mike Walsh and Neil Cawvey. The Team USA charter consisted of twenty-nine of the best men’s roller derby players in the country and of those twenty-nine only twenty would be on the roster for the actual event.
