Crimes take on Rockets in Turf War Finale!

[17 Jul 2013 | No Comment | ]

All the hard work, sweat and blood have come down to this. The RiverFront Crimes will face the defending Turf War Champion Dogtown Rockets in the Championship bout this Saturday night at the Midwest Sports Hockey Complex at Queeny Park.

The Crimes started the season with tough losses to both the Slammers and the Rockets, but showed improvement each bout and that improvement continued on through two big wins against the Slammers and Rockets to finish out the season strong. The Crimes have become a team of one mind and one goal: to win a Championship! Led by regular season scoring champ Debaucherous Prime, the Crimes have arguably the most potent jamming rotation in the league. The loss of Juke Blocks Hero was big for the Crimes, but the blocking corps has really stepped it up and filled the spot with a team effort.

The Rockets started the season strong with a big win over the Crimes in the season opener but then stumbled in the middle of the season suffering their first two regular season losses since the creation of league. While it is true that the Rockets did not have Magnum, P.I.M.P. for the loss against the Crimes, I’m not so sure Magnum would have been enough to make up the scoring difference. I guess we will find out this Saturday. The Rockets will be at full strength and they certainly know how to win. The question is will they have the right game plan to take down the surging Crimes.

I know it’s cliche to say it, but I really feel this bout is going to come down to the team that plays the cleaner game. At full strength, these two teams are pretty evenly matched. That said, if the Crimes find themselves on the better end of the penalties they are very good at taking advantage of packs when up a player or two and can really make you pay big time. If the Rockets end up on the better side of the penalty situation it will likely mean a long night for the Crimes blocking corps.

What I know for sure is that these two teams are going to give it their all for sixty minutes and the fans in attendance will not be disappointed.
