Crimes no match for surging Slammers!

The South Grand Slammers were simply too much for the RiverFront Crimes Saturday night as the Slammers cruised to an impressive 218 - 103 victory. In the opening bout, the wily Cougars mangled the energetic Kittens 102 - 61.

It was a big night with Championship aspirations on the line and the South Grand Slammers made a statement. There were some questions going into the bout if the Slammers would be able to handle the loss of Bat Wing, but Gnat King Kill stepped it up big time and Neil Death Experience was impressive in his Turf War Debut.

First off, the opening bout featured an epic battle between the Kittens (under 30) and Cougars (over 30). It was an excellent bout that featured some incredible talent from the St. Louis, St. Charles and Columbia Missouri areas. These talented ladies all came together to put on one impressive bout. In the end, the Cougars came out on top of the Kittens 102 - 61. I also noticed many Cougars prowling the after party looking for young men to take home.

The first half saw things start off strong for the Slammers as they managed to blank the Crimes on the first five jams opening up an early 36 - 0 lead. Much of that lead was then negated by a big twenty point jam by Debaucherous Prime on the following jam. The Slammers’ defense lead by Percy Control and Double Excel then put the Crimes’ jammers on lock-down only allowing two total points on the next six jams. The real story was the Crimes’ inability to secure lead jammer for the vast majority of the first half as the Slammers controled lead jammer for an amazing thirteen of the fifteen jams in the first half to roll to a big 112 - 51 lead at the half.

The Crimes fared no better in the second half as the Slammers’ defense continued to control the pack and made life a living hell for the Crimes’ jammers. The Slammers controlled pretty much every aspect of the game as their blocking was tight and their jammers controlled lead jammer status for nine of the fourteen jams in the second half. With the dominating play of the Slammers’ blocking and jamming corps they rolled to a 218 - 103 final.

The two big stories of the night were the debut of Neil Death Experience and Gnat King Kills’ incredible night. This was only Neil Death Experience’s second bout (he played for the B-Keepers against Ozarks Derby Brigade last month) and he thoroughly impressed with a 61 point debut for the Slammers. Gnat King Kill played absolutely lights-out as he put on a ridiculous display of scoring racking up an incredible 145 points. This win also moved the Slammers into second place in the standings. The Crimes and Slammers may have identical records and they have split their series but the point differential is currently in the Slammers’ favor.

Scoring Summary:
Slammers: Gnat King Kill - 145; Neil Death Experience - 61; KenEvil - 8; Inquadable Hulk - 4
Crimes: Debaucherous Prime - 56; No Gus No Glory - 35; The Saint - 12

The Rockets better have been paying attention to the bout Saturday night, because with Bat Wing back for next month’s bout the Slammers will be fully loaded and ready to take on the currently undefeated Rockets. The last time these two squads faced off, the Rockets came away with a 138 - 105 win. The Rockets will now have to deal with a deeper jammer rotation with the addition of Neil Death Experience to the Slammers’ roster.

Next up the B-Keepers will be playing the Ozarks Derby Brigade in St. Peters at Matteson Square Garden on July 9th. Immediately following the St. Chux Derby Chix will be taking on the Springfield Roller Girls. We hope you can make the short trip out to see the B-Keepers in St. Peters. Tickets are now available at Brown Paper Tickets!

The Turf Wars resume on July 23rd as the Dogtown Rockets take on the South Grand Slammers at the Midwest Sports Hockey Complex in Queeny Park. With only two bouts left before the Turf War Championship bout on September 17th, the intensity is really heating up as one of these three teams will be left on the outside looking in.

See you at the bouts!
