B-Keepers win big in debut!

The B-Keepers made their debut in Springfield Missouri on Sunday, May 29th and they did so in impressive fashion. They beat the Ozarks Derby Brigade by a score of 348 - 35. The B-Keepers came out of the gate strong and never gave ODB a chance to establish any kind of gameplan or momentum by taking a quick 50 - 8 lead by the end of the 8th jam of the first half. The B-Keepers settled in and kept the foot on the gas as they cruised to a 145 - 23 halftime score.

ODB fared no better in the second half as the B-Keepers came out even stronger in the second half and only allowed ODB to score 12 points the entire half while putting up 203 points of their own. The final score was 348 - 35.

Bench coaching for the B-Keepers, Batwing had the following to say about the performance: “This was insane to watch! Our boys played SO WELL. ODB was running into a lot of trouble with jammer penalties, which was costing them scoring opportunities left and right. If some of those calls had fallen in their favor, they have the offensive fire-power to probably have scraped up a hundred (+/-) points against the stubborn St. Louis defense. What really determined this bout was ODB’s inability to contain the B-Keepers patient and resourceful jammers, all of whom managed to stay out of the box for all but a few jams. Keeping the jammers on the track and allowing ODB’s blockers to abandon their line positions in favor of big, sweeping hit-attempts was ultimately the formula that allowed the B-Keepers to win nearly every jam of this bout. Lots of important lessons here. Thanks, ODB, for having us!” I could not have said it better myself.

Final Thoughts: The B-Keepers were in control from the first whistle to the last. The GateKeeper organization is so deep right now and the strength of the squad is secure for years to come. This was valuable experience for both squads and I look forwards to following how Ozarks Derby Brigade develops. There is a lot of talent on that team and they will be a team to watch in the future.

Scoring Summary:
B-Keepers: The Saint - 114; Shanego Fett - 82; Neil Death Experience - 65; Oodles of Brutal - 34; Skulls McCrackin’ - 33; Specs Offender - 16; Talahassee Toad - 4
Ozarks Derby Brigade: Hoss - 17; Big Ka-Luna - 14; Mancheeta - 4

Next up, the GateKeepers will take on the TC Terrors at Queeny Park on June 11th. This is a double-header with the Arch Rival Roller Girls as they will be taking on the North Star SuperNovas (Buy Tickets). Then on June 18th the Turf Wars continue as we will see a rematch of the season opener between the RiverFront Crimes and the South Grand Slammers (Buy Tickets).

See you at the bouts!
