St. Louis' first and only flat track Men's derby league

B-Keepers take on Carolina and the Lunachix take on BrewCity!

[6 Jun 2012 | No Comment | ]

This Saturday night at the Midwest Sports Hockey Complex at Queeny park, the B-Keepers will take on the Carolina Wrecking Balls in the opening bout of the evening and the Saint Lunachix will take on the BrewCity Battlestars in the main event!

It’s going to be a hot one on Saturday with temperatures creeping into the 90′s, but it will be even hotter on the track. They may be “B” teams playing in this double-header, but the play will be “AAA” quality as the B-Keepers look to stay undefeated when they take on the Carolina Wrecking Balls.

Consisting of players from both Carolinas and Georgia, the Wrecking Balls have only been around for eleven months, but have already made a splash with some hard fought contests against some quality talent. Having a franchise record of 1-3 coming into Saturday’s contest, you have to admire the fact that in the short amount of time the franchise has been in existence this team has already played four bouts! Last year they played their first bout against MRDA heavy Magic City and lost. The Wrecking Balls then lost a nail-biter to Tampa, but rebounded with a win over the Raliegh Collision. Finally, they lost to Magic City’s B-Team the River City Misfits last month. Carolina may be a relatively young franchise, but they are filling up their schedule with impressive opponents.

The B-Keepers look to stay undefeated coming into this bout with a perfect 3-0 record. Just last month the B-Keepers dismantled the Tulsa Derby Militia 361 - 39. Expect a heavy dose of The Saint jamming as he is averaging well north of one-hundred points per contest for the B-Keepers. You can also expect a bevy of big hits by Skulls McCrackin, Oodles of Brutal, Bled Zepplin and the rest of the B-Keepers’ blocking unit. Screech Around is out with a ankle sprain so NeanderBrawl will step up to fill in and will be seeing his first action as a B-Keeper. NeanderBrawl was just recently drafted by the Dogtown Rockets local team so this will be his first public bout! The B-Keepers look strong as ever and co-captains Specs Offender and The Saint look to keep the streak alive with smart jamming and punishing blocking.

In the main event of the evening, the Saint Lunachix look to get back on the winning path against the BrewCity Battlestars. The Lunachix are coming off a rough Brewhaha in which they lost to both Ohio Gang Green by a score of 152-110 and Naptown’s Warning Belles 150-93. The first two losses of the season have surely lit a fire under a very talented squad. The Lunachix may be without the services of star-jammer Enya Nightmare who has a broken toe. She was able to play in one of the games at Brewhaha however so it will be interesting to see if she plays and if she does how effective she will be.

The Brewcity Battlestars were also in action at Brewhaha going 1-2. The Battlestars faced off against Ohio Gang Green and fell by a score of 204 - 100, but as you all know, margin of victory comparisons can be sketchy at best. Brewcity will certainly come into this bout ready to play and looking for a big road win to bolster their confidence going into the second half of the season.
